More lies from the rose garden (not the lawn, my bad). It simply amazes me how baldly they lie. Let's just dispense with this BS already, can we?
QUESTION: The vice president, who I see standing over there, said yesterday that Saddam Hussein has long-established ties to Al Qaida. As you know, this is disputed within the U.S. intelligence community.
Mr. President, would you add any qualifiers to that flat statement? And what do you think is the best evidence of it?
BUSH: Zarqawi. Zarqawi's the best evidence of a connection to Al Qaida affiliates and Al Qaida. He's the person who's still killing. He's the person -- and remember the e-mail exchange between Al Qaida leadership and he, himself, about how to disrupt the progress toward freedom.
If al Qaeda is active in Iraq now, and there's good evidence they are, it is your doing Mr. Bush, not Saddam's. Saddam was an evil man, there's no mistaking that, a brutal dictator, but he was not in cahoots with al Qaeda. Nor does Zarqawi's presence in Iraq implicate the Iraqi government in his actions any more than did Mohammed Atta's mere presence in America implicate your administration in the attacks of September 11th.
There is no link. There was no link.No matter how many times you say it is so, it will not make it true.
