I saw this yesterday but was unable to post. July 14 is, as the article mentions, a national holiday in Iraq, marking the day the pro-British monarchy was overthrown by military coup.
BAGHDAD -- In an audacious assault on the most heavily guarded area in all of Iraq, a suicide attacker detonated a huge car bomb Wednesday near the compound housing the U.S. and British Embassies and several key Iraqi government buildings, killing at least 10 people and wounding 40 others.
The bombing, which came on the 46th anniversary of the end of the monarchy in Iraq, was the deadliest attack in Baghdad since the U.S.-led coalition handed over authority to the interim Iraqi government June 28.
