James Carroll, writng in the Boston Globe:
THE INDICTMENT of the vice president's chief of staff for perjury and obstruction of justice is an occasion to consider just how damaging the long public career of Richard Cheney has been to the United States.Heh. Indeedy.
But I'm not sure that Bush was in the dark about so much as Carroll seems to imply here. Yes, the man is an incompetent buffoon, but I don't know that I'm willing to accept his non-involvement. I think it's always been more a matter of plausible deniabilty, as they say. Yes, Cheney has made all the large and sweeping (illegal, immoral, destructive and otherwise) decisions, but not without Jr.'s buy-in, however simplistic Bush's decisioning.
