Interesting post from Turn Maine Blue, a progressive blog way up north.
Seems that on a single day last summer, some 26 Mississippians donated $56,400 to Susan Collins' (R-ME) reelection campaign. Was she here in town that day on a fundraising drive? And if so, why in the world would a Senator running for reelection in a state over 1200 miles away find such generosity down here in Mississippi?

If you look at the names, you'll see that almost $17,000 of that money came from Dickie Scruggs & family. I'll bet he raised the rest of it, too. Of course, this was before he was a persona non grata.

Yes,but, while he's always been an equal opportunity political contributor, it was also my understanding that he leaned Democratic. And Collins is, of course, a Republican. But stranger still to me is why Collins sought and received so much money from donors in this state.
