Well, not news, really, but an interesting tidbit. The Commission on Presidential Debates has announced the moderators for the upcoming presidential and vice-presidential debates. The first, to be held at the University of Mississippi on September 26 (check here for some historical context), will focus on domestic issues and will be moderated by the venerable Jim Lehrer, executive editor and anchor of PBS’s “The NewsHour.”
Considering that, given the insanity of this world, we could well have been looking at someone like Katie Couric taking the lead, I think we can all be pleased with the decision to give it to Lehrer. So be thankful for small favors.
